Who We Are
Wycliffe Ethiopia is a Bible translation organization serving communities across Ethiopia, the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea region, and beyond. Our mission is to make the Word of God accessible in the heart languages of minority communities and to foster lasting transformation through meaningful Scripture engagement.
We are blessed to have a diverse team representing more than 17 Christian denominations at our head office, united in our shared calling. Over the past decade, and through God’s provision, we have steadily grown into a trusted hub for Bible translation, regional training, and holistic mission support.
As persecution and hardship continue to affect many believers in neighboring countries, Wycliffe Ethiopia has become a safe haven and center of empowerment for regional Christians, offering training, discipleship, and logistical support. We provide practical and spiritual resources to equip local movements in advancing Bible translation and engaging in community-centered mission work.
Today, we’re engaged in 50 active translation projects across 6 countries, supported by more than 10 Scripture engagement initiatives and 12 structured training programs. Our work also includes language development, literacy training, trauma healing, and the provision of vital resources to underserved communities.
Ethiopia, home to more than 135 million people and over 87 languages, remains the heart of our vision.
